Where The Root Is

With an office area of oriental ambiance, and through tea-tasting, it creates an intersection of people and their paths. The overall space design was anchored on the traditional Chinese concept of Greeting Guests with Tea, with large window for natural light intake, as walnut and grey wool carpet, and simple and clean-line design vocabulary were used to articulate a natural and serene look and feel of a meditating space with culture to be shared by the hosts with their guests.

House of Forest PalyCapsule

The space was specially created for children. As its name showed, the architect got inspiration from natural forest, including their shape and color. Those figurative references were transformed into 2D and 3D patterns, complemented by cosy colors. Safety concern and spirit of exploration both are the key to its success. The architects visually turned elements of nature into patterns with smooth palette and lighting sets. For young-age children, safety is the primary concern of all.

Xinwanxin Noodles

According to the regional characteristics, designers combine the architectural thinking of modernism in the process of conception. The dining area adopts the pattern design of the main axis and makes use of the smooth movement and function between the spaces, which provides enough possibility for the diversified dining needs, and enables everyone in here to feel the flow of time, the change of space, the transformation of old things and new things, as well as the state of prosperity and quiet precipitation.

Owspace

The design team believes that bookstore is a" humanistic scenery, a cultural domain" or even interpreted as a place of liberation for minds. This project aims to gather the public to spend their whole day in there and attract the literati of Hangzhou or even the world. The historical streets of Hangzhou, pedestrians beside the large canal, natural landscapes and the rich humanistic life, form the design elements of the space. Thus, the materials of the spatial elements, bookshelves, displays and furniture are specifically chosen to preserve the patterns and touches of natural materials.

The Atticum

The charm of a restaurant in an industrial environment should be reflected in the architecture and furnishings. The black and grey lime plaster, which was specially developed for this project, is one of the proofs of this. Its unique, rough structure runs through all the rooms. In the detailed execution, materials such as raw steel were deliberately used, whose welding seams and grinding marks remained visible. This impression is supported by the choice of muntin windows. These cold elements are contrasted by warm oak wood, hand-planed herringbone parquet and a fully planted wall.
