Takumi Restaurant

Takumi

Takumi is a restaurant interior built around robatayaki, a Japanese method of grilling food on an open square grill. The layout is arranged like a theater. Curves and high ceilings shape the space, and staggered seating gives every guest a clear view of the chef's counter. Metal mesh, mosaic tiles, glass bricks and terrazzo flooring add transparency and depth. Orange-red tones recall the warmth of fire, while gray tones balance the scheme. Semi-open dining areas and private booths improve privacy. The venue covers 264.4 square meters.

Zhenbaoguan Museum

Zhenbaoguan

Zhenbaoguan is a private museum interior covering 750 square meters. The space displays a collection of artworks and wine inside a residence that also serves as an office and a place to receive guests. Cabinets, ceilings and floors are finished in black wood and stone, so attention stays on the exhibits. The cabinet lighting illuminates each artwork rather than the cabinet surfaces. Wine walls are arranged symmetrically along both sides of the main corridor, following Oriental symmetry aesthetics. Turns and level changes create a varied route through the rooms.

A curved light channel in the floor guides visitors, and glass blocks diffuse soft light. Mineral coatings, quartz, mirrored metal and curved forms are used, and all finishes are easy to clean.

The Peacock Wine Cellar

The Peacock

The Peacock is a wine cellar of about ten square meters. The cellar is lined with one thousand blue glazed terra cotta tiles, each shaped and finished by hand. The tiles are arranged in a triple curved array inspired by the form of a peacock. Each tile holds a wine bottle and carries a small light that illuminates the tile below, so the only other light source is a single spotlight above the central table. The tiles were made by artisans in Jingdezhen, China, using a feather textured blue glaze of the Song Dynasty. Cooling is managed by a smart controller.
